It's no secret that laughter is the best medicine. However, if you're like me and tend to move in a laser-focused manner from one task to the next on your never ending to-do list, then intentionally taking a short break and seeking out some humour might be just what the doctor ordered. The next time you are between tasks, jump on your favourite social media platform and watch a few silly cat, dog, or your favourite animal videos, and have a good laugh.
Laughter releases endorphins, your body's natural feel-good chemicals. These endorphins promote on overall sense of well-being and can even temporarily relieve pain. Laughter also decreases stress hormones and increases immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies, thus improving your resistance to disease.
