#go to bed early

This has been my life the past couple weeks: get up, spend a few hours catching up on work and managing things around the house before heading out to the field to harvest for 8, 10 or 12 hours. Even with all the equipment today, farming involves a lot of physical labour. I can't even imagine what it would have been like a hundred years ago!

While I've enjoyed the change from my usual routine, I've also noticed that I've been way more tired than usual. And that tiredness has made me less patient, more cranky and overall less cheerful; in other words, not as much fun to be around.

Recognizing this, I've been going to bed early when I can, and by early I mean 9 pm!. A good night's sleep does wonders to restore my mood, energy and attitude.

Many people are chronically sleep deprived, getting fewer than the minimum recommendation of 7 hours of sleep per night. So regardless of what types of activities you've been doing, whether they've been mentally stressful or physically taxing, or both, if you're tired just go to bed! Hit the hay early (yes pun totally intended! 😁). The extra rest will help you to recover so you can wake up feeling refreshed and ready to start a new day.
